Action4Civics
Now more than ever, the world needs critical thinkers who are passionate about creating social change in their communities. Amidst polarization, misinformation, and distraction, the youth needs to develop an early framework of what it means to create change. Action4Civics, an organization formed by Luke Lamour in 2026 aims to foster a community of citizens who know to think critically and change the world critically.

The roots for Action4Civics started in 2017, as Luke developed a strong passion for presidential history and sharing his insights with his peers. Reading proficiently about the American presidents, Luke was inspired to explain the events of American history in a new, engaging light. Over multiple months, Luke would produce his own children’s biography of 39th President Jimmy Carter, publishing it on December 13, 2018.
Luke’s journey with informing people about civic issues continued as he was appointed as one of the 50 Scholastic Kid Reporters in 2020. During his time in the position, he would come face-to-face with a diaspora of leaders across a variety of fields, including Former President Barack Obama, Senator Cory Booker, Herpetologist Earyn McGee and Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Alison Lee.
To define his own passion to make a difference in his community, Luke Lamour founded Action4Civics in 2026. The organization has been focused on expanding its own events, the latest of which is the Debate Lab, which was hosted on May 17, 2026. In the event, students involved with parliamentary debate learned about the history of debate and participated in debates about parliamentary debate techniques. With learning and application combined, students involved with speech and debate have a new lens to see the activity from.
As Action4Civics continues to grow, the theme of using history as a vehicle for change will grow with it. From books to events, Luke is excited to take the next steps of his civic journey.
